WPRF: NIPR Seeks Partnership with NYSC to Enhance Delegates' Experiences


As preparations continue for the November World Public Relations Forum (WPRF), the host body, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has called for partnership with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) towards giving the world the Biggest, Brightest and Boldest WPRF.

Vice President of the Institute, Prof. Emmanuel Dandaura who spoke on Wednesday in Abuja, during a courtesy visit at the national headquarters of scheme highlighted that highly impactful activities have been designed for the youths at the WPRF, including the Youth Summit which will take place same day with the unveiling of the University of Public Relations and Leadership (UPRL), first of its kind in world. 

"We have deliberate approach towards building a successor generation. We think NYSC should take a central place. We are expecting multiple guests at the one week event. We want corps members to serve as tour guides to our guests and help in showcasing what our nation is blessed with. We know that every NYSC member is under a proper care and we believe they can help is selling Nigeria appropriately", he stated. 

While affirming the willingness of NIPR to equip them with skills to deliver a world class service, Prof. Dandaura noted that the NYSC members will also play vital roles in plenary sessions and other components of the event. 

He commended the scheme for its several reforms, including skills acquisition programmes for corps members which empowers them for self-reliance after their mandatory one year service. Prof. Dandaura also urged the NYSC to take advantage of the WPRF to showcase its several achievements to the world through exhibition pavilion being planned at the Forum. 

In his response, the Director General of NYSC, Brig.-Gen. Olakunle Nafiu lauded NIPR for its role in shaping Nigeria's reputation domestically and before the international community. 

While assuring that his leadership will prioritise professionalisation of public relations in the scheme, he commended the Institute for securing the right for the hosting of WPRF. 

He said the scheme will offer the needed support in making WPRF a huge success, noting that NYSC will continue to be at the forefront in mentoring young people whose talents will be of immense value in shaping national development.
