NIPR Invests Kaduna State Governor, Sen. Sani as Patron


The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has performed the investiture of governor of Kaduna State, Sen. Uba Sani as the Institute's patron. 

The investiture was performed on Tuesday, April 21, 2025 in Kaduna as part of activities marking the Nigeria Public Relations Week (NPRW) declared open by the Vice President, Kashim Shettima. 

Themed "Food Security: From Policy Paper to Public Plates: The Imperatives of Public Relations", the 2026 NPRW was the third in the series. 

Speaking at the event, the President of NIPR, Dr. Ike Neliaku lauded governor Sani for the transformation he has brought in the governance of Kaduna in the area of security, agriculture, infrastructure as well as driving a governance model that has incorporated traditional rulers as stakeholders in peacebuilding and unity. 

In his remarks, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris described Governor Sani as one of the most friendly communication associates in Nigeria, which he believes was key in facilitating the honour. 

‘’In December of 2024, His Excellency, Governor Uba Sani, joined us at the National Council on Information and National Orientation meeting. At that time, Kaduna State had no Ministry of Information.

‘’It had been scrapped by the previous administration. When we gave the advice to His Excellency the Governor to restore that Ministry, he immediately did that,’’ he disclosed.

The Minister also said that Governor Uba Sani ‘’identifies with information management that is rooted in public relations and that is one of the reasons why the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations is honouring him today.’’

In his acceptance speech, Governor Uba Sani said that the theme the Nigeria Public Relations Week resonates with the policy focus of his administration. 

According to him, it ‘’aligns with our vision of a food-secure Kaduna, where policy is not confined to paper but translated into productivity, prosperity, and shared progress.’’

‘’It aligns with our broader economic agenda, one that prioritises agriculture, empowers communities, strengthens value chains, and positions our state as a hub of resilience and opportunity,’’ he added.

Earlier, the governor had been conferred with the Institute's Fellowship of the Institute at the Council Chamber Government House, making him the second Governor in Nigeria two have the two prestigious awards, after his Nasarawa State counterpart, Engr. Abdullahi Sule.
