NIPR Inducts 70 Customs Officers, Hails CG Adeniyi's Exceptional Leadership
The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) on Monday conducted the induction of 70 communication officers of the Nigeria Customs from across the country into its fold, signalling a significant milestone in its efforts to deepen professionalism in reputation management in public and private sectors.
Speaking at the ceremony in Abuja, the President of NIPR, Dr. Ike Neliaku described the mass induction as a demonstration of the huge importance the CG, Dr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi attaches to capacity building of officers in managing the reputation of NCS. He further applauded the visionary leadership the CG, a Fellow of the Institute has brought to bear since assumption of office that has positioned NCS as a national asset the nation places so much value on.
"The Nigeria Customs Service under his leadership has become a much stronger economic factor that the nation must celebrate from time to time and we have seen him being celebrated even by the President of Federal Republic of Nigeria. In addition to that the NCS under Dr. Adeniyi has become a strong reputation capital of Nigeria. Only recently, we was re-elected as the Chairman of World Customs Organisations (WCO) Council. After the Organisation's 73 years of existence, he was first Nigerian to be elected and re-elected", he stated.
While noting that this shows Nigeria's influence in global Customs management, Dr. Neliaku informed that NCS through Dr. Adeniyi's innovative leadership has become a model of corporate excellence, particularly through the institution of a systemic way of accomplishing tasks and guiding the management of the Service.
The NIPR boss therefore urged the inductees to justify the investment the Customs is making in developing them for effective service delivery by being ambassadors of the Service, the NIPR and nation at large, expressing the Institute's willingness to continually offering the needed support in the discharge of their functions.
In his remarks, CG Customs, Dr. Adeniyi expressed to commitment of NCS to continue deepening professionalism in every aspect of Customs operations, particularly in its public relations.
He said through consistent and steady reforms, the NCS has pursued the goals of trade facilitation and anti-smuggling, contributing to the nation's economic development. He expressed confidence that reforms being put in place now will be sustained by the experienced officers who will in the future take up the mantle of leadership in NCS.
