NIPR Congratulates Mrs Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, on Election as President of Nigerian Bar Association
On behalf of Governing Council of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), I extend our warmest congratulations to Mrs Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, on her historic election as the 33rd President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
Mrs. Badejo-Okusanya's victory at the polls is a landmark achievement in the Association's history of 93 years, being the first female to be elected President, and the second female President, after Dame Priscilla Olabori Kuye, SAN. This is indeed, a confirmation of women’s rising influence in leadership and a proud moment not only for the legal profession, but for women in leadership across Nigeria.
This emergence of a woman as the 33rd President of the NBA is a journey of resilience that should stand as a beacon of inspiration to young women aspiring to get to the peak of their careers; a story of passion to make a difference; and a case of earned trust over decades of professional practice. Mrs. Badejo-Okusanya ‘s successful election reflects the confidence reposed in her by her peers in recognition of her legal acumen, integrity, and demonstrated capacity for institutional leadership.
As she assumes this significant responsibility, NIPR joins the legal community and all well-meaning Nigerians in celebrating a milestone that reinforces the growing trend of merit-based leadership across our nation's professional institutions.
This achievement holds particular significance for our Institute, as Mrs. Badejo-Okusanya's husband, Chief Yomi Badejo-Okusanya, fnipr, is a distinguished and ranking member of NIPR, who currently serves as Chairman of Board of the Nigeria Reputation Management Group (NRMG) and has thrice led the National Planning Committee for the Nigeria Public Relations Week (NPRW) as Chairman. His invaluable contributions to the advancement of development communication and reputation management in Nigeria are well recognised within our profession.
This also aligns with the Institute's continued advocacy for gender equity and inclusivity.
While the NIPR takes pride in celebrating the entire family on this giant stride, let me also establish that the NBA and NIPR have shared values of professional excellence, integrity, and quality service delivery, which both professions hold dear.
As Mrs Badejo-Okusanya assumes leadership of the NBA, we are confident that her tenure will be marked with strengthened institutional governance, enhanced access to justice, and continued advancement of professional standards within the legal fraternity.
