WPRD: NIPR Abia Visits School for the Blind, Harps on Inclusive Communication
The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Abia State Chapter has commemorated the 2026 World Public Relations Day with an inspiring outreach to students of the School for the Visually Challenged in the state capital Umuahia, reaffirming the profession's commitment to inclusion, empathy and meaningful engagement.
Speaking during the visit, the Chairman of the Chapter, Onyinye Ralph-Nwachukwu described public relations as a strategic communication profession that transcends media engagement, emphasizing that it is fundamentally about building trust, fostering inclusion, promoting mutual understanding, and nurturing meaningful relationships, the state PRO, Promise Uzoma Okoro said in a statement.
He quoted Ralph-Nwachukwu a Fellow of the Institute as stating that the visit to the school reflected the Institute's commitment to ensuring that no segment of society is excluded from the conversation on communication, development and opportunity.
"The Chapter Chairman encouraged the students to believe in themselves, communicate with respect and remain committed to lifelong learning.
"She reminded them that their abilities, character and determination, not their limitations. will define their future, stressing that the outreach exemplifies the role of public relations as a strategic communication function that promotes inclusion, builds trust and strengthens relationships across all segments of society", the statement noted.
The interactive session, during which students shared their future career aspirations, underscored the importance of creating an environment where every individual is seen, heard and empowered to realise their full potential.
"The goodwill visit formed part of the Abia State Chapter's activities marking World Public Relations Day 2026, demonstrating that strategic communication is most impactful when it is inclusive, compassionate and People-Centred", the statement concluded.
