
NIPR Tasks Kano Civil Servants on Effective Service Delivery
The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has urged civil servants in Kano State to justify Government's investment in human capital development through quality service delivery.
This was the advice of NIPR President, Dr. Ike Neliaku on Thursday during the induction of 83 new members comprising over 70 information officers from various Ministries, Departments, Agencies as well as local government areas into the Institute. The rest were presented from Jigawa and Kaduna State Chapters.
Dr. Neliaku said the initiative by Governor Abba Yusuf is a demonstration of his administration's commitment to raise the bar of excellent service delivery across various sectors in the state.
"The Governor has shown that he is somebody who believes in human capacity development and it takes only a leader with such understanding to invest in what will assist his workers improve their knowledge", he stated.
The NIPR boss while advising the new members of the Institute to continue to learn and improve themselves in order to add greater values further urged them to be agents of peace and bearers of solution.
In his remarks, Governor Yusuf said the induction is a significant value addition to his administration's commitment towards deepening professionalism in public communication and information management in Kano.
Represented by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Waiya who was also among the inductees, the Governor said the induction is not just a mere ceremony but a deliberate effort to reposition the state's information ecosystem.
"The induction of these information officers into the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) is an unprecedented move that places Kano at the forefront of adherence to ethical and professional public communication in Nigeria. I am also pleased to inform this gathering that about 50 additional officers are scheduled to participate in the upcoming Executive Membership Class of NIPR which prepares them for the Institute's membership", he noted.
