NIPR Anambra Seeks Partnership With State Assembly on Capacity Building ... Meets SSG, HoS
The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Anambra State Chapter has held a strategic meeting with the leadership of State House of Assembly as part of its efforts to foster collaboration and expand professional impact.
The meeting took place at the State Assembly complete during a courtesy visit led by the Chapter Chairman, Dr. Ngozi Ulogu. She sought collaboration, particularly in areas of staff training, reputation management, and support for upcoming programmes of the Institute, particularly the World Public Relations Forum (WPRF).
Dr. Ulogu in a release signed by the Chapter PRO, Comrade Ogemdi Ozoemenam emphasized the importance of equipping legislative staff with modern public relations skills to enhance service delivery.
The release quoted the Chairman as saying that specialized training on reputation management would significantly improve public perception legislative functions.
Receiving his guests, the Speaker of the House, Rt Hon Somtochukwu Udeze, described the engagement as a commendable initiative and a step in the right direction, the PRO stated.
"He highlighted the core responsibilities of the legislature, which include lawmaking, oversight, and appropriation, stressing that the Assembly is not part of the executive arm of government.
"Rt. Hon. Udeze assured the delegation that while direct financial sponsorship may not be feasible, the Assembly is open to partnerships in staff training and capacity development, provided formal proposals are submitted for consideration", he stated.
Similarly, the State Chapter of NIPR has met with the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Chiamaka Nnake where it sought partnership in promoting adherence to professional standards in work ethics as well as supporting initiatives that enhance the image and reputation of Anambra State through conscious awareness creation, the PRO stated.
The Chairman expressed the Chapter's readiness to partner the State Government in delivering effective communication strategies, soliciting the State Government’s assistance with logistics of the chapter members attending the World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) in Abuja come November.
The SSG in her response promised to partner with NIPR for a sustainable information management of the state. She also charged members of the Chapter to do their best in supporting the efforts of the state government to build its image beyond the state.
The delegation also met with the Head of Service, Barr Mrs Ngozi Iwouno, where it advocated stronger partnership in capacity building and professional training for civil servants.
The visit according to the PRO was part of the Chapter's ongoing efforts to reposition NIPR as a critical stakeholder in governance and reputation management.
