NIPR Advocates Persuasive Communication for Effective Law Enforcement
The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has called on law enforcement organisations to utilise persuasive communication for more effective service delivery.
NIPR President, Dr. Ike Neliaku gave the advice on Wednesday in Abuja at the Federal Road Safety Corps Half Year 2026 Corps Marshal Strategy Session with FRSC High Command, themed, "Strengthening Institutional Capacity for Enhanced Service Delivery in Challenging Environment".
Dr. Neliaku while delivering a paper on, "Reputation Management and Building Public Trust", acknowledged the role firmness plays in law enforcement but emphasised the need for officers to be more civil in their dealings with the public; saying transparency expressed in civility will drive better compliance.
"For most Nigerians, their only direct encounter with FRSC is the checkpoint, crash scene, or roadside stop, not a press release. Any of those situations is a defining moment for the Federal Road Safety Corps brand and reputation", he stated.
The NIPR boss while urging every FRSC officer to be a reputation ambassador called on Commanders across the country to provide leadership in their various zones and sectors that will enhance public engagement and zero tolerance to misconduct.
Earlier, the Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Shehu Mohammed urged the officers to imbibe the values of integrity, discipline, professionalism, accountability and respect for the Rule of Law in order to sustain public confidence.
